The management and staff of Channels Television are greatly saddened by the untimely and unfortunate death of such a promising journalist.

They pray that God will grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, and avail his soul eternal rest.”

Many Nigerians have since taken to social media to air concerns over the killing of the young man. See reactions below;

Damilare Okunola – Nigeria is getting really unbearable to live in. See how people are getting killed on a daily basis. What kind of leader keeps quiet while his people get killed ALWAYS? We DO NOT WANT condolence press release, DO SOMETHING! We are ANGRY! Precious Owolabi 😭😩

Eric Yero – So sad an nysc coper working with @channelstv shot dead trying to cover footages of shites clash earlier today. R. I. P precious owolabi. What is wrong with this Nation. Someone gets a job admist highrate of unemployment and meets death because of insecurity & ignorance of govt.

Seven Sekani – Also because the Shiites refused to protest peaceful. What they have done today is something we should all be wary of. Both parties (The government and the Shiites) have contributed to the death of Precious Owolabi.

Funmi Falobi – My heart goes to the families of Precious Owolabi, Channels TV reporter, a corp member, and DCP Usman Umar who lost their lives today while on duty during Shiites protest in Abuja. May God rest their souls.

FAVOUR ONYEOZIRI – Let it be on record that Precious Owolabi died because a certain democratic Government led by a Dictator refused to obey a simple court order. I hope the Govt doesn’t wait for more casualties before they find a peaceful resolution to this Shiites crisis.
