Nigerian Poetry I'm Just A Break Away by Akande Tunji kikiotolu

I’m just a break away. Just one break and that’s it!
No looking back, no coming back!
Going like some gone before into sunrise!
Setting off into life and leaving dreams behind!
All past, forgotten! The present, self-centered! The future, uncertain!
I’m just a break away. Just one break and that’s it!

I’m just a teardrop away. Just one teardrop and that’s it!
Eyes sullen, well sullen!
Smiling behind a tear like man living in a boy!
Looking on with blurred sight and a reason to cry!
All memories, conflicting! All actualities, confusing! All plans, unrealistic!
I’m just a teardrop away. Just one teardrop and that’s it!

I’m just a me away. Just one me and that’s it!
Gait straightened, trot purposeful!
Ready to compete light on his own track!
Moving like one possessed with a stare so cold!
Shoulders, raised! Nose, twitched! Hands, stretched!
I’m just a me away. Just one me and that’s it!

N.B: The journey to El-dorado has a wild path. Set off prepared!
