LOL!!! That’s the reaction of many football fans who are not Nigerian or a Red Devil.
Well, for those who are Manchester United fans or Super Eagle supporters, have been dropping streams of CONGRATULATIONS online.
Sport viewing centres in Lagos and across Nigeria just got a new reason to get filled up, even jersey sales – Adidas might not feel that.
Here in Nigeria, Chelsea FC used to be the bully at viewing centres, as a Barcelona/Pep fan…I hate them so much. They never let me watch my favourite games. A big competitor is now in town for them, as I can anticipate a rise in Man Utd local supporters.
He is the first Nigerian to sign for the English club and we can tell why there is a massive buzz around. Many of us don’t care about his age or whatever, we don’t even care if he gets 2 or 50 goals this season. We just wanna see him in that jersey.
The big question on the lips of some though is…Why Ighalo?
According to the clubs website, Ighalo is a lifelong Reds supporter (like we care), and is going to bolster their squad for the second half of the campaign, as the club competes in the Premier League, UEFA Europa League and Emirates FA Cup. He also got the experience.
Speaking about the loan deal, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Odion is an experienced player. He will come in and give us an option of a different type of centre-forward for the short spell he’s staying with us.
“A great lad and very professional, he will make the most of his time here.”
Though I don’t think Ole is saying the full truth their. We all know he needs a striker that can break his nose to score, though I haven’t seen Ighalo do that before, I am sure that clause is hidden somewhere on his contract.
