Kwara Lockdown: SC Writes Corps Members, allays Fears


The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Kwara State, Mrs Francisca Olaleye has relaxed the panic which was earlier going on among Corps Members in the state on the 14days total shutdown of movement and activities that was announced by the state government

In her message titled “My Dearest Children” , the Coordinator explained that the action was to enable the government to curtail the spread of the virus in the state. She enjoined the Corps Members to see the government action as the one taken for the benefit all.

Mrs Olaleye who appreciated their cooperation so far ,also applauded the contribution of the Corps Members in battle against the dreaded virus, COVID-19. She therefore assured them the maximum resolve of the scheme to see to their safety.

The message which was passed through various Zonal and Local Government Inspectors via SMS and WhatsApp media handle read “ Kindly be assured that there is no cause for alarm. The step is to assist the government to curtail the spread of the virus in the state.”

The Coordinator who assured the corps members 24hours access to the scheme, therefore referred them to make use of the contacts and phone numbers various publications given to them on camp in the course of orientation exercise.

Mrs Olaleye directed the Corps Members to be law abiding during the process and further advised them to follow all the precautions given by medical experts on how to prevent the dreadful pandemic.

My Dearest Children,

I wish to once again appreciate your cooperation and unrelenting efforts in the war against covid 19 in the state.

Kindly be assured that all your contributions in any form in making sure that the ravaging pandemic is fought to stand still are noted by the scheme and posterity shall never have you forgotten in the sand of time.

However, as you are already aware, the government has announced 14 days total shutdown of movement and closure of shops in the state with only exemption of those engaging in essential good and services ( such as food ,medicals and others) who are only permitted to open only on Monday , Wednesday and Friday of the week from 10am to 2pm accordingly.

Kindly be assured that there is no cause for alarm. The step is to assist the government to curtail the spread of the virus in the state.

You are hereby advised not to give yourself away to unprecedented rumour and unnecessary panic. The scheme is doing everything possible to make sure you are all safe.

Kindly adhere yourself to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and World Health Organisation (WHO) who periodically update first-hand information on the covid 19.

In case of any concern, you can get through to the management of the scheme in the state through the contacts in the ‘ Service Guide’ given to you on camp

In addition, all Zonal and Local Government Inspectors had also been directed to be on ground to attend to your concerns.

In the meantime , while observing the government directive , I enjoin you to strictly adhere to various rules and regulations as given by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and various media sensitization on how to prevent yourself from contacting COVID-19.

As I earlier said, my sincere prayer is with you as your mother. We shall all come out of this better than ever. Please stay calm and Safe.
