Oragnised Staff Union of Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) have crippled activities in the institution following the non-remittance of pension dues deducted from their salaries monthly.
The protest have also halted treatment of patients in Intensive Care Units, Emergency Section and wards alike.
Our correspondent who spoke with a staff of the hospital (name withheld) learnt that the management failed to remit the monthly deduction after some of the staff approached the Cooperative Society for payment of benefits.
“We approached the Cooperative for due payment of our benefits but we were told that the management of EKSUTH are yet to remit the sum they deduct monthly for our Pension Fund.
“We are staging this protest to seek justice and ensure our dues are remitted to the cooperative of the Staff Union for immediate payment,” he said.
Efforts to speak with management of the institution proved abortive. However, we will bring you full details of this report as events unfold.
