Since the 2019 Eid al-Adha celebrations, there has been heavy traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, as people return from their hometowns.

The Eid al-Adha is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.

The 2019 celebrations held between Sunday 11th August to Tuesday 13th August, and saw a lot of Lagosians travel to their various hometowns.

The influx of people into the commercial hub of Nigeria via the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, as now seen the road in total lockdown, leaving people stuck there for hours.

Commuters also complained about the hike in transport fares, as drivers have since increased their rates due to the ‘rush’.

According to a KikioTolu News source, transport fare from Ibadan to Lagos has risen from about N900 to N3,000.
