Belgian star, Eden Hazard has just confirmed that he is leaving Chelsea this summer, he made this known immediately after the Europa League final.
The 28-year-old scored twice as the Blues won the Europa League after a comprehensive victory 4-1 victory over Arsenal in Baku.
Speaking after the game, the winger made the stunning revelation fans have been awaiting for months. Pressed by a BT Sport presenter, the Belgian stated that he is now “waiting on both clubs”. He said;
“I think it’s a goodbye, but in football you never know,” he told BT Sport.
“We will decide in a few days – the only target in my mind was to win this final.”
“Maybe now it is the time for a new challenge.”
Real Madrid are to step up their bid to sign Hazard and are now prepared to pay Chelsea a higher fee in order to secure his signature. Some reports claim the Spanish giants are ready to pay over 100 Million Euros for the deal.
Hazard has just over a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge with the forward explaining he has already made his decision to move on.
“We will decide in a few days. My target today was to win the trophy, that is it.
“I took my decision already, I said that two weeks ago. Now it depends on the club. Both clubs. We will know in a couple of days.”
If the final in Baku was his last match, then it brings to an end a seven-year association with Chelsea, having joined them for £32m from Lille.
Hazard made 352 appearances for the Blues and his two goals in the final moved his tally for the club to 110.
