Senator Babayo Gamawa Early Life History and Education
Not much is known about the early life history of the late Senator.
Born on Feb. 2, 1966, Babayo Gamawa attended the University of Jos, where he obtained a National Certificate in Purchasing and Supply.
He left behind four wives, 16 children and aged mother.
The father of Senator Babayo Garba Gamawa, Alhaji Garba Shu’aibu, died on the 15th of April 2014, at the age of 84.
Babayo Gamawa Political Career
For his Political Career, he Served as both the Deputy Governor and Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly. He became the Deputy Governor following the impeachment of the then Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Garba Gadi; which he later reclaimed given the Appeal ruling that deemed the impeachment unconstitutional.
Gamawa refused to give up his seat and his supporters rioted in the street, saying “Gamawa is the authentic deputy governor.” Gadi’s supporters, however, proclaimed that “the owner has arrived, the pretender should roll up his mat.” Gamawa would eventually concede and Gadi would reclaim his seat as Deputy Governor.
In 2011, he was elected Senator under the platform of the PDP for the 7th National Assembly; where he was the Vice Chairman of the Aviation Committee and a member of the Land Transport Committee.
He later defected to the ruling APC prior to the 2019 general elections after his suspension by the opposition PDP.

Senator Babayo Gamawa vs EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the year 2018 arraigned, Alhaji Babayo Garba Gamawa, and five others for an alleged N500m fraud.
Counsel for the EFCC, Abubakar Aliyu, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the court session, said that the defendants were accused of alleged money laundering of N500m in 2015.
Abubakar said the EFCC had yet to establish any proof as to whether the money was from the arms deal from Dasuki or it was part of campaign funds from Diezani adding that this would be determined by the court.
