The Inspector General of Police (IGP), has ordered the arrest of Senator Elisha Abbo who assaulted a woman in a sex-toy shop in Abuja.

The IGP, Mohammed Adamu, on Wednesday 3rd July 2019, gave the order due to the outrage generated from the viral video which showed how Elisha Abbo repeatedly assaulted the lady.

Many Nigerians have been incensed, with some protesting since the video of the “youngest Nigerian senator” assaulting a nursing mother in Abuja.

Elisha Abbo who is representing the Adamawa north senatorial district, in the Nigerian Senate, was shown in the CCTV footage, published by PREMIUM TIMES slapping a nursing mother who was trying to appease him.

The assault, which reportedly occurred on May 11, 2019, in an adult sex toy shop, was done in the presence of an armed policeman, who rather than assist the victim, arrested her.

When the lawmaker was contacted, he did not refute the allegation but assured that he will give a “robust response as soon as he put a team together.”

Following the call by Nigerians to arrest, prosecute and jail Senator Elisha Abbo, the IGP of police has now waded into the matter.

The report says that an investigative team has been set up by the Police Force to investigate the senator and his orderly in the force headquaters in Abuja.

The Police say they are doing everything within their powers to restore dignity to the force, following the conduct of the police orderly attached to the senator.
