10 Reasons Your Phone Battery Dies So Quickly

April 23, 2018 in tech

PicsArt 04 23 12.22.03 - Ayeni Tolulope

Wondering why your smartphone battery goes dead so quickly, after all it cost you a lot of money.

So many of us find ourselves wondering if we have been scammed by our OEM’s, some of the popular brands in Africa, Samsung, Tecno, Infinix and iPhone have been accused over the years of putting a 2000mAh in a 5000mAh phone.

This accusations are largely untrue, as many customers don’t understand the factors that make their phone battery to last longer.

Below are the common reasons many smartphone users are guilty of that makes their phone battery not to last long.

Top 10 Reasons Your Phone Battery Dies So Quickly

  1. Your phone screen brightness is set too high. This is one thing that consumes your battery power. When your phone screen brightness is set high, then don’t expect your battery to last too long.
  2. Your phone is on 4G network. 4G consumes more data than 2G and 3G, so also does 3G consume more data than 2G. The thing is, if you are not doing any heavy download or streaming, turnoff your 4G network and switch to a less battery consuming 3G network.
  3. Your software isn’t up-to-date. It is possible that there is a bug in your software that is making it drain your battery, and the programmers have improved on it. You’d need to upgrade to the latest version.
  4. Your phone has hardware issues. Yes, hardware issues can lead to your phone going dead real quick. Getting a professional opinion on things is a good step to take.
  5. Apps and data are automatically syncing. When you are automatically syncing your photos, videos, apps, music, and app data, then your phone battery is likely to go off faster.
  6. Using battery savers. I don’t like this apps, and neither should you. They claim to save your battery, but in the end keep running in the background and consume a lot of power.
  7. Using resource intensive apps. When you are making use of resource intensive apps like games then your battery is most likely to die quickly. So if you fall into that circle of game addicts, just get yourself ready to charge your phone.
  8. You’re overdoing it with battery-draining apps and activities. Some battery draining apps are really good, and we can barely do without them, but when you are using them too frequently, then your phone battery is likely to go off quick. Google Maps for instance is a well known battery draining app.
  9. Background apps. This is a top suspect, and you need to be on the look out for apps that are not useful but keep running in the background. To do this, you don’t need to install a battery saver app, but simply use your device apps manager.
  10. Notifications. Yes, when your notifications keep going off all day, you are likely to lose power soon. Notification sounds, screen wake up, and led lights are activities that consume battery, so look into them.

#Bbnaija 2018: Cee-c – Top 5 Talking Points Of Double Wahala – Sex In The Toilet,

April 22, 2018 in Big Brother Nigeria 2018 (BBNaija 2018)

As the 2018 edition of the reality television show, Big Brother Naija tagged ‘Double Wahala’ ends today, we want to take a quick look at the top 5 talking points of the show.

bbnaija day 3 big brother cautioned bitto - Ayeni Tolulope

Sex In The Toilet, Cee-c And 3 Talking Points Of ‘double Wahala’

Here we go….

1. Reentrance of Anto and Khloe: This was the first time in the history of the Big Brother Naija reality show that already evicted or disqualified housemate reentered the game. They were not readmitted to play as fake housemates; but according to Ebuka, they were there like other housemates to chase the grand prize.

2. Eviction of Bambam: The eviction of female housemate, Bambam, was arguably, one of the shocking moments of the show. Bambam was the only housemate evicted in a form of disqualification. Big Brother sent Bambam packing immediately after the Saturday night party. Her lover, Teddy A, followed her the next day.

3. The pairing game: This year, Big Brother made sure that the 20 housemates became very close to each other. While some left the show as lovers, Nina and Miracle have continued their love in the house.
Anto and Lolu, Bambam and Teddy A were other housemates that left the show still glued to each other. Along the line, some of the housemates even confessed to have shifted focus from the cash to love.

4. Teddy A and Bambam- sex in the toilet: This will remain a major topic even when the show finally comes to an end today. Viewers of next year’s edition will surely look out for characters such as Teddy A and Bambam. Although the pictures were not crystal clear, but the two housemates in question neither denied or gave in.

5. Cee-c and her bitterness: How long does her smile last? This is one of the questions that crop up each time her name is mentioned.
Big Brother Naija 2018 housemate, Cee-c will remain a big talking point till the next edition.
She was a hard nut to crack to other housemates. This housemate fought with virtually all the co-contestants.
Her recent insults on Tobi, and his generation will remain in the minds of followers of the show. Some celebrities have noted that Cee-c is trully the “Double Wahala.” She has already cautioned her father and fans against attacking her because of the attitude she displayed in the house, when she returns to Nigeria.

14 Proven Ways to Make Money Fast In Africa

April 22, 2018 in editorials

Money Market Funds South Africa - Ayeni Tolulope

Want to make quick money in Africa this year 2018? Then this article is for you. We are not talking about how to become a millionaire overnight. If that’s what you are looking for, then this article is just not for you.

The tips here are easy ways you can make quick cash to keep that creditor off your phone.

Before I go into the top 14 proven ways to make quick LEGIT money in Africa this year 2018, let me briefly steal a piece from entrepreneur.com

Its called “The psychology of making money.” I believe you are going to need it to change your mindset and put you on track to making quick money this 2018.

Anywhere you are in Africa, the psychology of making money if just for you.

The psychology of making money

Regardless if you need to earn some fast cash or we’re just talking about making money in the grand scheme of things, there’s an important psychology that needs to be mentioned before getting into the strategies. If you study Freud’s model of the mind, you’ll discover the Psychic Apparatus. It’s the three-part construct in your mind that controls all of your behavior.

Those three are the id, the super-ego and the ego. The id lives deep within the subconscious from birth. It’s the source of our sudden and most instinctive urges. When you find yourself doing what you know you shouldn’t, blame your id.

The super-ego is formed later in life to balance the id. It forms and breaks off from the id through our upbringing, parental guidance and our sense of community and beliefs. People who are careful with their money can thank their super-ego.

The ego is the driver making the decisions. It decides between the devil (the id) and the angel (the super-ego) on either shoulder (yes, all those cartoons you’ve ever seen are partly true). We have voices in our mind, and it’s up to the ego to decide which one to fulfill. Its goal is to satisfy the id in some way while also attending to the super-ego.

Get-rich-quick schemes and fad weight-loss diets are naturally popular because they satisfy the id while also attending to the super-ego. The ego’s job is complete when it sees something like this. The appeal of “fast” stems from the innate desire for instant gratification, so beware of what seems too good to be true (they often are) when you’re looking to make money quickly. Be wary. Listen to the conversation deep within the confines of your mind and do your best to tame the proverbial beasts.

What are the best ways to make money right away? While a search online when you’re in need of some fast cash will produce millions of results, not all will be legitimate. It’s up to you to filter through the so-called noise. These 32 strategies will help put you in the black, even if it’s in a very small way. Once you are, resume planning and focusing on the bigger picture.

THE ABOVE IS A MUST READ BEFORE JUMPING INTO THE QUICK MONEY MAKING IDEAS BELOW

1. Drive for UBER, TAXIFY or what ever popular company in your country. This is a proven way to make quick LEGIT money in Africa, though this is based on if you know how to drive, and if you reside in a big city.

2. Sell or resell used electronics on OLX, Jiji and the likes. Don’t keep those old electronics you don’t use to rot. Sell them off and make some cash of it.

3. Domain Flipping. I really haven’t put my hand into this, but many success stories make me know its a proven way to make cash real quick. How to do it? Read.

4. Do gigs on Fiverr. I bet you must have heard about Fiverr before, and trust me one or two of those boys you suspect are internet fraudsters make money from Fiverr. Play around the site and see the services you can offer.

5. Photography. Did you know you could rent a camera for a shoot. Yes, you don’t need to own that big camera before you get to use it for a shoot. Be smart and make cash.

6. Do personal fitness training. If you have a body like mine, this might nit be a good method to make cash for you. But if you are fit and know a lot about fitness training then you should begin to train others. So many people would be willing to learn from you.

7. Tutoring. I have see so many ads on Facebook lately of people setting up one tutorial or the other. The thing is if you know how to do something, be it beating a cow, there is surely someone out there who is ready to pay to learn. Don’t let that knowledge of yours waste. Make cash from it.

8. Advertise for companies with a car wrap. This business is not only for the big busses, if you own a car, you can earn some quick cash by allowing people advertise on it.

9. Housecleaning. Oh no!! I just mentioned something low right? Well, if you want to make some quick cash this avenue is there for you.

10. Wash cars. Yeah, not everyone might be ready to take their cars to the carwash. Make yourself available and make some cash.

11. Give blood, donate blood or sell blood. Whichever one you are comfortable with, just know you can make some cash from giving blood. In Nigeria here depending on your blood group you can earn as high as $30 from donating blood.

12. Decorate homes and parties. Yeah, I know you are into decoration of venues for parties, but the jobs are not coming as fast as you want, why not simply decorate homes for holidays also.

13. Sell vintage clothes at a thrift shop.
You’ll likely get paid by the pound but it’s some money, so if you’re in need, then why not — especially if you have no use for those clothes anymore. This works best for things like maternity clothes, old children’s clothes, clothes that you haven’t worn in years or are simply out of style.

14. Add your idea and help someone…

Infinix Hot S3 - Ayeni Tolulope

Why The Infinix S Series Might Just Be The Best Ever From The OEM

April 21, 2018 in tech

Infinix Hot S3 - Ayeni Tolulope

Just last week Sunday I was sitting in the studio and an artist who came to record spotted my phone and was like.

Bro, you are using the best phone ever!!

Yes, I was using the Infinix S2, but I wasn’t surprised a bit cause I knew that already.

A little bit of history.

I used to be a die hard HTC fan, buy recently I switched to Infinix, though I can’t yet call myself a die hard Infinix fan as I am still just on my third ever Infinix smartphone.

For the record, I used over 10 HTC phones, started with the first ever Android device, HTC Dream.

My first Infinix phone was the Infinix Hot, I pre-ordered it on Konga, and made a real bargain with the phone, as I sold it for more than the value later on. That should tell you how well the phone performed in the market.

So before I bore you with my personal history, let me go back to the main topic of this article.

Why the Infinix S series might just be the best ever from the OEM.

I bough the Infinix Hot S weeks after the release and enjoyed the phone for a year or thereabout before I switched to the S2.

No, I didn’t sell my phone this time, I had to give it out to someone I love, cause the Infinix Hot S was just too special for me to sell it.

I hoped the S2 would be an upgrade, and it has beaten my imaginations.

I am not going to go back and fort giving you the specs of this phone again, as I believe most of us already know that. But if you have handled this device, you are sure to agree with me that it is smooth.

I first opted for the S series because of the phone size, and I wasn’t disappointed, the design is silk and smart, and that saves me from holding a bulky device that does about the same thing.

What are the core competence of this phone?

Like I said earlier the Infinix S2 is really smooth, like you can run a lot of processes on it and not fear your phone would lag. I only experienced phone lag when I removed my external memory and used 96% of the internal memory. What else was I expecting?

So when I heard that Infinix are set to release the S3, I was like, woah, what else do they want to offer.

I read up the specs and noticed the S3 was also a massive improvement. Mehn, that’s really stepping up the game.

If you are an MTK phone user, you must have had at least one experience of those cocky Samsung and iPhone users downgrading your phone because it is MTK and theirs is Qualcomm.

Well, the Infinix S3 just came as a game changer. This devices solves all the problem we could have experienced on the Infinix S2.

It is Qualcomm, comes with more memory, 32GB, and also has an extra sim slot. So now you can use your memory card and dual sim.

Though with all the good points, its really sad that my Infinix Hot S is still stuck in Android 6.0 while my S2 is still stuck on 7.0. I think the OEM need to work on this and make update available so as to keep potential die hard fans.

Don’t ask me why I left HTC phones.

My top 3 best Avicii songs and why I’d forever miss him

100969295 mediaitem100970963 - Ayeni Tolulope

One of the greatest DJ’s of all time is dead and I am still yet to recover from the shocking news. Here are the top 3 Avicii songs I’d forever remember him for.

THE NIGHTS
Hey, once upon a younger year
When all our shadows disappeared
The animals inside came out to play
Hey, when face to face with all our fears
Learned our lessons through the tears
Made memories we knew would never fade

One day my father—he told me,
“Son, don’t let it slip away”
He took me in his arms, I heard him say,

“When you get older
Your wild life will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you’re afraid.”

He said, “One day you’ll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember.”
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me

When thunder clouds start pouring down
Light a fire they can’t put out
Carve your name into those shinning stars
He said, “Go venture far beyond the shores.
Don’t forsake this life of yours.
I’ll guide you home no matter where you are.”

One day my father—he told me,
“Son, don’t let it slip away.”
When I was just a kid I heard him say,

“When you get older
Your wild life will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you’re afraid.”

He said, “One day you’ll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember.”
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me

These are the nights that never die
My father told me….

WAKE ME UP
Feel my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I CANT TELL WHERE THE JOURNEY WILL END
But I know where to start
They tell me I’m too young to understand
They say I’m caught up in a dream
Well life will pass me by if I don’t open up my eyes
Well that’s fine by me

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn’t know I was lost

I tried carrying d weight of d world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don’t have any plans
Wish that I COULD STAY FOR EVER THIS YOUNG
Not afraid to close my eyes
Life’s a game made for everyone
And love is a prize

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn’t know I was lost

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
I didn’t know I was lost

I didn’t know I was lost
I didn’t know I was lost
I didn’t know I was lost
I didn’t know

HEY BROTHIER
Hey brother! There’s an endless road to rediscover
Hey sister! Know the water’s sweet but blood is thicker
Oh, if the sky comes falling down, for you
There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do

Hey brother! Do you still believe in one another?
Hey sister! Do you still believe in love? I wonder
Oh, if the sky comes falling down, for you
There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do

What if I’m far from home?
Oh brother, I will hear you call!
What if I lose it all?
Oh sister, I will help you out!
Oh, if the sky comes falling down, for you
There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do

Hey brother! There’s an endless road to rediscover

Nigerian Poetry: We Are The Lazy Ones

April 21, 2018 in poem

We Are The Lazy Ones by A.B. Ikus

Muhammadu Buhari - Ayeni Tolulope

Life to us we never take easy
Switching walks of life to make ends meet
Nooks and crannies like rats we ransack
And hard labour gives us our daily bread.

We roar like lions chasing off crowd
For a chickenfeed you make us political thugs
In your political jingoism we are the steps
But in its monetary benefits we become gatecrashers.

We are the lazy ones who never rest
We are neither birds nor amphibians
But we sweat profusely searching for our nest
Like efforts in futility we often bag all to no avail.

Light to a western path we all queue to get
Believing it is the master key of our success
This we could not afford still we are getting it
And despite setbacks we still sail it through
But the master key is now active only in our dreamworld.

In us there comes frustration
With pessimistic views of the future some conform
Their goals turn do or die
And frivolously they give up morality

Like angry birds some fly off the land
Like an hungry man many angrily stay
Looking like a watchdog some are hopeful
And like commercial vehicles we double our hustle
But under this canopy we are still roofless.

We are the good and its rivals
We work hard but remain idle
We never rest but we sleep all days
We are the jobless ones who work all days
Because we are the lazy ones who never rest.

Swedish DJ Avicii, who has collaborated with the likes of ColdPlay and Madonna has died in Oman at the age of 28.

Avicii’s club anthems include Wake Me Up, Hey Brother, and recently, Lonely Together with Rita Ora.

His representative announced his death in a statement which he said: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.

“The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time.”

No cause of death was announced, and Avicii’s representative said no further statements would be issued.

The electronic dance music (EDM) star, who reportedly made $250,000 (£180,000) a night on tour, had struggled with some health issues in the past, having his gall bladder and appendix removed in 2014.

He announced his retirement from touring in 2016, partly because of the health problems.

“I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist,” he said at the time.

Love you Avicii, Rest in Peace

How long can we blame the old hag when the young ones have sold their rights?

Abike Dabiri Buhari Shehu Adesina Aug2017 1 1 - Ayeni Tolulope

I have thousands of slurs up in my head towards Buhari (who is not worthy to be called President), but the truth is the youths are also as guilty as he is.

Buhari yesterday with the whole world watching said the larger percentage of Nigerian youths are LAZY and not ready to work.

This was coming from a President who just last week found a way to blame the late Gadaffi for the rogue Fulani herdsmen crisis in some parts of Nigeria.

I wasn’t surprised by this, not a bit, I have gotten used to his dumb speeches.

The truth remains is, many Nigerian youths are at fault for the way we are being governed in Nigeria.

When you discover that so many JOBLESS NIGERIAN YOUTHS, who the system has failed and put in a state of dilemma, find pleasure in begging for data subscription money from their relatives, only to come online to hail and support the cause of their misfortune, then you know a lot of heads needs to be checked.

If I decided to analyse how the government has systematically put in place a system that would fail the masses, especially the youths, then I might have to write a 100,000 words article.

The educational system in Nigeria is in shambles, and only prepares a lot of people for unemployment. The system is so decadent that it is now so so normal for graduates to be unemployed after the NYSC.

Or don’t you know a N20k salary job is now likened to a blessing in Nigeria?

Like I said earlier, most of us, Nigerian youth have sold our rights for recharge card, N5,000, or even cooked rice at polling units, so we have little or nothing to say.

Until we look at the mirror take a deep look at ourselves, and make a decision to never again be taken for granted by the old hags, then perhaps we can hope for better days ahead.

Sex For Mark Scandal: OAU Suspends Professor Richard Akindele Indefinitely

OAU professor 653x365 - Ayeni Tolulope

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, OAU, has suspended Prof. Richard Akindele, whose telephone conversation in which he demanded for sex in exchange for passmark from a female student was recorded and released on social media.

The committee poised with the task of investigating the case recommended the suspension of the professor.

In the leaked telephone conversation, the female student, who our correspondent gathered was a postgraduate student doing her Masters in Business Administration, initiated a call and asked the professor about their earlier discussion on the matter.

The member of the committee said, “The committee recommended the indefinite suspension of the professor pending the time the final report will be ready.

The committee established a prima facie case against the professor. But note that this is the interim report of the committee.

“The committee invited the professor and the female student. We identified the student and invited her, but she did not appear. Only the professor honoured our invitation. I don’t want to tell you what he said on the telephone.”

The committee member said the lady was an MBA regular student and added that the final report would be submitted after the lady might have appeared before the panel.

However, the Public Relations Officer of the OAU, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, when contacted on the telephone, told our correspondent that he would find out to know if the report was ready and get back. But he had yet to do that as of the time of filing this report.

The Vice Chancellor of the OAU, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, had, on Sunday, told our correspondent that the report of the committee would be ready on Wednesday and that it would be released to the public.

It will be recalled that the the lady had released a telephone conversation she allegedly had with the professor; and the lecturer was heard demanding sex with the lady.

The lady eventually rejected the condition given during the conversation.

The Teeth Drama

The two groups had also been Tasked to act up different scenarios promoting the benefits of toothbrushes and toothpastes and put together short dramatic performances in order to win a cash prize and dental products. As much as Housemates attempted to start working on their presentations, Cee-C kept interrupting the peace, as she kept going back and forth between the dining table where Alex and Miracle were working to the lounge where Tobi and Nina were brainstorming, to keep pouring more fire on Tobi.
