Biafra: Wike is an ally of IPOB – APC

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday alleged that the State Governor, Nyesom Wike is an ally of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The state arm of the party said since the proscription of the pro-Biafra group, Wike has been “feeling vulnerable, disorientated and very bitter especially at the Army.”

APC in the state made the remark in reaction to the vaccine scare alarm raised by the Commissioner for Information and Communication in the state, Emma Okah.

However, the party said the alarm was part of a “well-articulated strategy by the Gov Wike-led Rivers State Government to ridicule, humiliate, intimidate and demoralise the Nigerian Army, SARS and other security agencies ahead of the 2019 elections.”

Buhari approves payment of pension to pardoned retired Biafra police personnel

President Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday, approved the payment of pension for police officers who were granted presidential pardon in 2000 after serving in the defunct Biafran Police during the 30 months Nigeria Civil war.

The personnel who were granted presidential pardoned by the then President Olusegun Obasanjo have till now not received their pension.

However, a statement released by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) on Wednesday said President Buhari has approved the payment of pension for the personnel. It said a total of 162 officers will be payrolled while 57 Next of Kin who have also not been paid their death benefits will be paid in the first batch.

It said the first batch of the payment will commence in Enugu on Friday the 20th of October, 2017.

But if the truth is told, the main culprit for the Biafran crisis are the politicians—not Kanu. The authorities should be knocking at the doors of the seven Nigerian governors of Igbo extraction, namely: Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (Rivers); Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Rochas Okorocha (Imo); Willie Obiano (Anambra); and David Umahi (Ebonyi). These governors, one after the other, openly inflamed and fueled the Biafran crisis to a sadistic state. Given that Nigerian governors are immune from prosecution, it is incumbent upon the masses to send them packing.

For sure, history will not forgive President Muhammadu Buhari for his mulish leadership in the current Biafran crisis. But the role of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is obviously worse. Then in fervent fear of the probable consequences for their corrupt deeds post-Jonathan regime, the leaders of PDP from the East unleashed a montage of separatist propaganda against the incoming Buhari government. The following innuendo from Nyesom Wike in the waning days of his governorship campaign in 2015 says it all:
