Benue State University, Makurdi, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following vacant academic staff positions below:

1.) Senior Lecturer (International Law and Jurisprudence)

Requirements

  • Appointment to this academic position must be predicated on the fact that the candidate must have obtained an honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division, and from a recognized University (or a higher institution of equivalent status). Such appointments must exclude honours degrees obtained through correspondence or extra-mural studies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set out before appointment as indicated below:
  • A minimum of three (3) years cognate teaching experience as lecturer I at university level plus PhD and evidence of publications in reputable local, national and international learned (twelve) journal plus registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
  • Productive research activity with the achievement of the status of an acknowledged authority in area of specialization.
  • Dissemination of knowledge through academic and professional activities i.e. teaching quality and quantity.
  • Postgraduate supervision at PhD (or equivalent) level.

2.) Senior Lecturer (Public Law)

Requirements

Appointment to this academic position must be predicated on the fact that the candidate must have obtained an honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division, and from a recognized University (or a higher institution of equivalent status). Such appointments must exclude honours degrees obtained through correspondence or extra-mural studies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set out before appointment as indicated below:

  • A minimum of three (3) years cognate teaching experience as lecturer I at university level plus PhD and evidence of publications in reputable local, national and international learned (twelve) journal plus registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
  • Productive research activity with the achievement of the status of an acknowledged authority in area of specialization.

3.) Graduate Assistant (Human Kinetics and Health Education)

Requirements

  • NYSC Discharged Certificate/Exemption Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (of the Benue State University) or of any other recognized University at performance level not below Second Class, Upper Division.
  • Must have graduated not more than five (5) years ago.

4.) Lecturer II (Biological Sciences)

Requirements

Appointment to this academic position must be predicated on the fact that the candidate must have obtained an honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division, and from a recognized University (or a higher institution of equivalent status). Such appointments must exclude honours degrees obtained through correspondence or extra-mural studies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set out before appointment as indicated below:

  • Must have been Assistant Lecturer in the University for three years or its equivalent rank in a recognized higher institution or Research Institute.
  • Earned PhD from recognized University.
  • Candidates with Master degree must also have evidence of four (4) publications in reputable learned journals plus registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
  • Candidates who have specialization in Microbiology, Plant Science and Biotechnology will have an added advantage.

5.) Senior Lecturer (Private Law)

Requirements

Appointment to this academic position must be predicated on the fact that the candidate must have obtained an honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division, and from a recognized University (or a higher institution of equivalent status). Such appointments must exclude honours degrees obtained through correspondence or extra-mural studies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set out before appointment as indicated below:

Such appointments must exclude honours degrees obtained through correspondence or extra-mural studies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set out before appointment as indicated below:

  • A minimum of three (3) years cognate teaching experience as Lecturer II at University level plus evidence of eight (8) publications in reputable learned journals.
  • A PhD is an added advantage.

7.) Assistant Lecturer (Religion and Cultural Studies)

​Requirements

Appointment to this academic position must be predicated on the fact that the candidate must have obtained an Honours Degree not below Second Class Lower Division, and from a recognized University (or a higher institution of equivalent status). Such appointments must exclude Honours Degrees obtained through correspondence or extra-mural studies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set out before appointment as indicated below:

  • Master’s Degree of the Benue State University or of any other recognized University and NYSC Discharged Certificate/Exemption Certificate.

8.) Lecturer I (Geography)

​Requirements

Appointment to this academic position must be predicated on the fact that the candidate must have obtained an honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division, and from a recognized University (or a higher institution of equivalent status). Such appointments must exclude honours degrees obtained through correspondence or extra-mural studies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set out before appointment as indicated below:

  • A minimum of three (3) years cognate teaching experience as Lecturer II at University level plus evidence of eight (8) publications in reputable learned journals.
  • A PhD is an added advantage.

9.) Lecturer II (Physics)

  • ​Must have been Assistant Lecturer in the University for three years or its equivalent rank in a recognized higher institution or Research Institute.
  • Earned PhD from recognized University.
  • Candidates with Master degree must also have evidence of four (4) publications in reputable learned journals plus registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
  • Candidates who have specialization in Geophysics, Atmospheric Physics, Material Science, Renewable Energy and Food Physics will have an added advantage.

10.) Graduate Assistant (Educational Foundation)

  • ​NYSC Discharged Certificate/Exemption Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (of the Benue State University) or of any other recognized University at performance level not below Second Class, Upper Division.
  • Must have graduated not more than five (5) years ago.
  • Candidates who have specialization in Pre Primary/Primary Education, Integrated Science,. Special Education will have an added advantage.

11.) Graduate Assistant (International Law and Jurisprudence)

  • ​NYSC Discharged Certificate/Exemption Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (of the Benue State University) or of any other recognized University at performance level not below Second Class, Upper Division.
  • Must have graduated not more than five (5) years ago.

12.) Assistant Lecturer (Philosophy)

  • Master’s Degree of the Benue State University or of any other recognized University and NYSC Discharged Certificate/Exemption Certificate.
  • 13.) Lecturer II (Accounting)

    • ​Must have been Assistant Lecturer in the University for three years or its equivalent rank in a recognized higher institution or Research Institute.
    • Earned PhD from recognized University.
    • Candidates with Master degree must also have evidence of four (4) publications in reputable learned journals plus registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
    • Degree in Accountancy plus recognized Professional Qualifications in Accountancy.

    14.) Graduate Assistant (Public Law)

    • ​NYSC Discharged Certificate/Exemption Certificate.
    • Bachelor’s Degree (of the Benue State University) or of any other recognized University at performance level not below Second Class, Upper Division.
    • Must have graduated not more than five (5) years ago.

    15.) Lecturer I (Accounting)

    • ​A minimum of three (3) years cognate teaching experience as Lecturer II at University level plus evidence of eight (8) publications in reputable learned journals.
    • A PhD is an added advantage.
    • Holders of ICAN, ANAN or equivalent professional qualification with Master’s Degree, plus evidence of publications in reputable learned journals.
    • Candidates who have specialization in Taxation, Auditing and financial reporting will have an added advantage.

    16.) Graduate Assistant (Biological Sciences)

    • ​NYSC Discharged Certificate/Exemption Certificate.
    • Bachelor’s Degree (of the Benue State University) or of any other recognized University at performance level not below Second Class, Upper Division.
    • Must have graduated not more than five (5) years ago.
