ActionAid Nigeria is an affiliate of ActionAid International, an International Non-Governmental organisation registered in The Netherlands with its headquarters in Johannesburg South Africa. ActionAid International works in more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and America.

AAN is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the following positions below:

1.) Consultant – Media Endowment Writer for EC-PANAF Project

Location: Unspecified.

Deadline: 20th May, 2018.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Socials Sciences or Arts/Humanities.
  • At least 10 years work experience; 3 of which should have been spent writing investigative reports.
  • A strong understanding of Africa Charter of Democracy, Election and Governance (ACDEG).
  • Understanding of Nigeria’s political and policy context.

Language Requirements:

  • A good grasp of English language.

Ownership of outputs:

  • Outputs of this contract as stipulated in the terms of reference belong to ActionAid Nigeria and ActionAid International.
  • Place of Work & Administrative Support
  • The consultant will be free to work independently from any base location or where required. S/he will be expected to provide his/her own work equipment and space except where otherwise stated Submission of expression of interest

2.) Consultant – Animator For EC-PANAF Project

Location: Unspecified.

Consultant’s Qualifications
Education:

  • A recognized Degree.

Experience:

  • Practical experience in cinematography
  • Proven experience in graphics design and animation
  • Familiarity with current trends in development communications
  • Private sector branding and communication experience is an added advantage.

Language Requirements:

  • A good grasp of English language

Ownership of outputs:

  • Outputs of this contract as stipulated in the terms of reference belong to ActionAid Nigeria ActionAid International.
  • Place of Work & Administrative Support

3.) Consultant – Policy Brief Writer

Location: Unspecified.

Deadline: 20th May, 2018.

Qualifications
Education:

  • At least a Master’s Degree in Humanities, Law or Social Sciences with a minimum of five year-experience in development work and familiar with AU frameworks, governance in Africa and most importantly, AGA and ACDEG.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in research skills
  • Strong Analytical skill
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Proficient writing skills
  • Familiarity with development works
  • Good knowledge of African Union structure
  • He/she should be willing to continue to be involved in ActionAid’s work in the future.

Language Requirements:

  • A good grasp of English language.

Timeline
The Policy Brief will be launched in June 2018.  Hence the Consultant is expected to finalize the Brief and other deliverables within the specified timeline below:

  • First Draft – June 14th, 2018.
  • Final Draft – June 20th, 2018.

Ownership of Outputs

  • Outputs of this contract as stipulated in the terms of reference belong to ActionAid Nigeria and ActionAid International.

Place of Work & Administrative Support

  • The consultant will be free to work independently from any base location or where required.
  • S/he will be expected to provide his/her own work equipment and space except where otherwise stated.

Reporting Lines:

  • The consultant will work, be accountable directly to ActionAid Nigeria’s Social Mobilisation Manager/ team.

Manager, Social Mobilisation

Location: Abuja

Persons Specifications
Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Arts/Humanities – Essential
  • Masters’ degree in a relevant field – Essential
  • Membership of relevant professional Institute – Desirable

Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ work experience – Essential
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in policy, advocacy and campaigns in Nigeria – Essential
  • Experience of, and commitment to, policy influencing, networking and advocacy work. – Essential
  • History of working with and within movements. – Essential
  • Knowledge of policy, CSOs, media and youth movements landscape in Nigeria – Essential
  • Experience in community-based work and engagements with CSOs – Essential
  • Experience in working in an International Development organisation – Desirable

Skill Abilities:

  • Strong communication and writing skills – Essential
  • Excellent research, analytical and writing skills – Essential
  • Proven strong and charismatic management and leadership skills and experience – Essential
  • Excellent strategic planning and analytical skill – Essential

  • Experience in office administration is essential
  • Experience in managing vehicles and driving, travels and facilities is essential
  • Experience working in an International development agency is desirable

Skill/Abilities:

  • Demonstrable IT skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English
  • Good knowledge of FRSC rules and guidelines
  • Good knowledge of Abuja roads and other road networks in Nigeria
  • Creative and takes initiative.
  • Excellent administrative skills
